Master Bedroom Inspired by a Spa Resort

We recently returned from the beautiful Mexican Riviera Maya and its so hard to get that relaxed, spa feeling out of our heads.  As usual, we stayed at our favorite resort, pictured here.

How nice it would be to wander out of the office right now, down to the water, lay out on a beach bed and nap the afternoon away.

But, since most of us cannot make that happen on a daily basis, one of the most oft requested looks that we get for master bedrooms is the “spa” or “resort” feel.  We think what that means is the client wants a refuge from the rest of their day and usually a different feel from the rest of their home.  Soothing, relaxing, secluded, comfortable, peaceful, romantic, soft, inviting, are just some of the descriptives this concept brings to mind.

Here are a just a few sample ideas of fine bedroom furnishings that we think would help achieve the Spa Resort master suite.

The Desiree Bed from RC

Of course, the bedding is sooooo important for that soft, luxurious feel.  Check these out:

Tessa Percale, Hotel Collection by Eastern Accents

Once you’ve dressed the bed with these awesome sheets and covers, then naturally you’ll want to crawl out every morning onto a soft, handknotted rug like these:

The Bahar by Jaipur, 100% New Zealand Hand Spun Wool

The Dim Sum Azure by Feizy

And, since we can’t necessarily have water in every bedroom, how about another reflective surface to give life and dramatic effect.  These gorgeous nightstands should suffice:

The Serenade by Platt

Certainly not all day, every day can be spent in bed.  So for those times that you need a little peace and quiet, slip into your master suite for a little reading or just “curling-up” in these awesome chairs:

Of course, we would finish the rooms off with amazing custom draperies, ambient lighting, unique accessories and a plant or two.  Can’t wait for that “spa” feel again……
