Well, its been over a month since President Obama’s State of the Union speech and no matter what your political leaning, we think everyone is ready for a complete revival of the USA economy. One of the points the President made during that speech (Buy American Products) has stuck with us here at Wesley-Wayne Interiors and we wanted to share some of our thoughts.
The idea of buying Made in America goods is certainly not a new one. Many political leaders for generations have stressed the importance of that act. But….fortunately, few have had an economy like this one to provide greater impetus and incentive for doing so.
We know, regarding designer furnishings that are made here in the States, many will think its too hard to find, too expensive, or may have some other reason for not pursuing that course of action. But, we thought a few pictures of some awesome pieces made right here in the good ole’ USA would help peek your interest and maybe spur on a little patriotic spending. Here’s just a small collection.
Handmade in California, by RC Furniture, this is some of the finest craftsmanship available in upholstery. In fact, upholstery and seating is one of the industries that China simply cannot compete with on a quality and comfort standard. Ours is always better. (By the way, you’ll see some inexpensive copies of this sofa in a couple of local stores…make sure to inquire on their country of origin.)

This heirloom quality furniture is made in Arizona by some of the best woodworkers in the world, Lorts, and then is hand stained to perfection. Hard to get this level of quality overseas.

These pieces are really cool in the colors as shown. But what if that color doesn’t work for your home? Take a look at all the colors that may.
Now, try to get that kind of customization from China or Korea or Japan. It simply cannot be done.

So as you can see, no matter your style or design tastes, when we want to, we can certainly buy designer furnishings Made in America.
Now, on further reflection, can everything you buy be from that category? Well, probably not, most accessories, lamps, rugs and decorative art are still best sourced from overseas. But, if you have to sit on it, eat on it or sleep on it….lets at least try to buy from the best craftspeople in the world…artisans from the United States of America.
